This will be the last week of teaching in the Spring semester and at the end of the week on Sunday June 7 we will have the Soirée. I am very excited about all the students who are going to play from the 6 year old ukulele twins to my talented ex-students and my amazing adult singers. Please come even if you do not plan to perform. I am attaching the program in order of performance. Please double check you are there if you intend playing and please check I have your correct item in all details.
After the Soiree I will be traveling to Australia to see my two granddaughters and family. I will be back Thursday July 16. I will be available for summer lessons from July 21 to August 21 and I can schedule lessons on Tuesdays Wednesdays and Thursdays for those weeks. If you are interested in some summer lessons please look at these times and see if one would suit.
Tuesdays between 11 am and 6 pm
Wednesdays between 11 am and 6 pm
Thursdays between 11 am and 6 pm
Please let me know as soon as you can so I can plan before I leave June 16. Please indicate if you want a 1/2 hour or an hour and if you want to come each of the 5 available weeks. If none of these times work I can perhaps negotiate another time.
Fall semester will begin Monday August 31 but I am not going to teach on Labor day Monday September 7 – I am learning the American way, no work on Monday public holidays! Fall semester will end Friday December 11.
The Soirée: I think most students are ready for the Soirée. Some feel nervous but it is a very relaxed concert and everyone is so supportive including members of the Croasdaile community who come to support the students. I know it is a big effort for students and parents but for all the reasons I have given in the past I think it is so worthwhile. Students are able to see and hear their peers play and sing which is something you never hear in individual lessons. For new people, we are so lucky to be able to hold our Soirée in the lovely auditorium at Croasdaile Village. I will send a separate email with directions and instructions.
Apology: The last few weeks I have not been well what with my arm injury first and then a cold so I know I have missed sending some emails from lessons. I will make sure this week they are all sent so if students feel they want to practice over the summer they will know what to focus on.
Chelsea recital: This week Thursday June 4 Chelsea Daniel will be presenting a recital at the Porter’s house. She is raising funds to help her attend the Green Mountain Music Festival in Vermont with her teacher Dimitri Shteinberg. I am attaching the flyer for the event. If you are interested in attending can you let me know very soon as numbers are limited by space! If you would like to contribute you could make out a check to Chelsea Daniel and I can give it to her. Chelsea is also going to play at the Soiree, along with another ex-student Elijah Rogan-Kelly, all very exciting!
Thank you so much for learning music with Flourishing Muse. Being able to earn my income in such a rewarding way is very special. I am so happy that Chelsea has an interest in teaching and perhaps you might see her in some of your lessons observing and offering valuable suggestions and ideas.
I love the warm weather!
