Happy Halloween to everyone! I have lots of candy and will be receiving trick or treaters from 6:30 to 8 at my house. Please don’t come early as I am still teaching before that. But please come after 6:30 and scare me
with your costumes and be rewarded.
Today is also the day to honor those who have passed away and I am sad to report that my dear friend and neighbor Barbara Newborg passed away on October 5 this year. She often came to my Soirees at Croasdaile until she was unable to hear the music well. She loved music and we also shared a love of gardens. She made 95 look easy! May she be in peace.
Tomorrow is the first day of November and I will be teaching until thanksgiving.
Monday people will have three lessons (today is still October!) 11/7, 11/14, 11/21
Tuesday people will have 4 lessons 11/1, 11/8, 11/15, 11/22
Wednesday people will have 4 lessons potentially if you are going to be here on the Tuesday: 11/2, 11/9, 11/16, 11/23
Thursday people will have 3 lessons: 11/3, 11/10, 11,17
Thursday people will have 3 lessons: 11/4, 11/11, 11/18
November fees will be due tomorrow and for most it will be three lessons $90.
Can you please check your calendars and let me know about thanksgiving week? I am keen to get in some lessons that week because I am leaving for Australia 11/27 and will not be back until 12/31. It is a long time to be away from lessons and during November I will try to make sure everyone has music they can work on. I am most concerned about the very young ones and the wonderful Moms and Dads might have to help get over this long break – although there will be distractions Like Santa Claus!
Spring semester will start on Tuesday January 3. The Monday people I will have to catch up because January 2 is a holiday and then two weeks later it is Martin Luther King day so I will make up at least one of the missing Monday lessons.
Adult students will be having a work-in-progress evening at the Porters’ house Friday 11/18/16 from 7-9 pm. I hope all my adult students can attend and hopefully play or sing something they are working on. Does not have to be a polished performance!
Renovation news! The room at the back is progressing well – they are now building the new deck and they hope to be finished by thanksgiving but maybe not. I might still have to use my neighbor’s house for teaching on certain days. Today for example the sound of the nail gun is pretty intrusive! I will let everyone know each day what is happening. We can look forward to completion when Spring Semester starts. Lovely new driveway and path, new heated room, peace and quiet!
